Wood Thrush Farm (WTF) is a small diversified vegetable operation based in Ulster county. We are a no-till farm, leasing land from and following the methods of Four Winds Farm. WTF is a women-led successor business of Windfall Farms (Morse Pitts - Montgomery, NY). We use the term UNconventionally Grown, which means we grow our produce without the use of any pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers. A bit more than your average vegetable farm, Wood Thrush aims to be a culinary experience. Throughout the seasons we seek to bring a wide array of carefully orchestrated flavors and aromas, to inspire and excite our customers, and embolden them to rethink how to prepare food in the kitchen. We grow over 500 varieties of vegetables and fruits throughout the season, and maintain a coop of around 100 laying hens. While we specialize in high quality hand harvested baby greens and microgreens, we also grow everything that you’d find fresh at market, as well as several specialty crops like ginger, turmeric and edible flowers. We farm on just 4 acres of land, and we attend the 79th st Greenmarket in NYC, on Sundays March-December.

Kevin is an artist, farmer and rabble-rouser that grew up in the Mid-Hudson Valley on land where his parents gardened, raised pigs, cows and many pets over his childhood. Animal welfare inspired a passion for understanding food production, while anti-capitalism instilled a critique of consumerism. Over the last two decades he spent many years seeking out holistic and sustainable small farming models while WWOOFing, volunteering, and interning on farms throughout the US and Mexico. In the late 2000’s Kevin encountered Windfall Farms, and Morse Pitts, an organic turned “Unconventional” farmer. Windfall’s practice of growing vegetables without the use of pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or synthetic fertilizer and in harmony with the ecology of nature was very much in line with Kevin’s beliefs. He worked for Windfall for over a decade, at market and on the farm, until he and Laurel created the successor business Wood Thrush Farm at the beginning of 2020.

Kevin is also an artist, having been involved with many creative collaborations, endeavors and collectives; printmaker/member of the Justseeds Artists’ Cooperative- a network of artists creating in the service of social movements, founding member of Interference Archive, NYC Ghost Bike Project, Visual Resistance collective and Miss Rockaway Armada.
